Go-Again Bags

For about a year now, I have been bringing reusable bags to stores when I am shopping.  My favorite bag so far is called a Go-Again Bag.  I ordered them online.  They are extremely sturdy and they are the perfect shape to fit ALOT of stuff into.  The handles are strong too, so even carrying heavy items is easier!

Say “No” to paper & plastic!

Did you know….

• In the USA, we use 100 BILLION plastic bags per year! Less than 1% are recycled.
• It takes more than 20 million barrels of oil to produce them!
• The petroleum based plastic breaks into tiny particles that contaminate soil in waterways.
• Many countries have banned plastic bags due to their detrimental impact on the environment. Australia, Ireland, South Africa, India and Kenya already have bans in areas.
• San Francisco recently passed a bill banning plastic shopping bags in their city.

What about paper bags?

• They require four times as much energy to produce than plastic.
• Paper also takes 85 times as much energy as plastic to recycle them.
• Paper takes up to nine times as much space in landfills compared to plastic

I also have Trader Joe reusable bags too. A few of them are insulated and work great for keeping cold and frozen things cool on the drive home.  Some grocery stores will even give you a few cents per bag credit if you bring your own bags in!  Think about how many bags you go through every time you go to a store!  Try using reusable bags instead!!! I keep some in both of our cars and at first I would forget them in the car, but now it has become a good habit!!
