Homemade Dog Treat Recipe
Milk Bone Dog Biscuits
3/4 cup hot water
1/3 cup margarine (I used butter)
1/2 cup powdered milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
3 cups whole wheat flour
Variation: increase margarine to 1/2 cup and add 2 teaspoons sugar
In large bowl pour hot water over the margarine. Stir in powdered milk, salt, and egg. Add flour, 1/2 cup at a time. Knead for a few minutes to form stiff dough. Pat or roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into bone shapes. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes. Cool. They will dry out quite hard. Makes about 1 1/4 pounds of biscuits. Costs around 30 cents per pound.

I packaged a few up for Dolce (my sis in law’s dog) and Biggles (Sherri’s dog)… Don’t ask me the last time I made “cookies” for us from scratch!!! For some reason I have fun making dog treats!
April sure likes them too!

Dolce LOVES her cookies, I make her homemade peanut butter cookies and she likes those too… Did you find your cookie cutter at Lodi Cooks? It’s bigger than mine… I like it! You could make your boys bone shaped cookies too! Hahaha

Too cute! Where’s Biggle’s bones? Are they low fat? He needs to slim down!!! Hahaha!

Hey, I don’t think it’s a good idea to feed your dog margarine. Margarine is not good for people and dogs are more sensitive to chemicals. Exchange the margarine for olive oil. You could exchange the margarine for butter, but too much fat could cause your pup to get pretty ill. Come visit my website. I’ve got organic and wheat free recipes for sale.
